• Travelling to New York to represent my film at "New Directors New Films" at the Lincoln Center and MoMA. What fantastic fortune!

• DP'd an Alexa high speed shoot for artist Magali Reus. The film is being exhibited in Amsterdam this March / April. http://www.ashleybriggs.co.uk/-highly-liquid/

• Camera Operator for a Toyota Viral. Produced by Saatchi & Saatchi.

• Represented my short film at St.Albans Film Festival, Q&A given.

• Travelled, with thanks to a British Council Short Support Travel Grant, to Clermont-Ferrand to be with my competing film "The Search For Inspiration Gone" at the worlds biggest short film festival and market. Joined UK Film at the market, gave a Q&A to assembled media and generally pushed my little film to a sustained and fruitful future.

• Travelled to Premier Plans d'Angers for the European Premier of my short. A great time!

• Cinematography for Shop Direct with the model Lena Lemkova. Crispy Duck Productions.

• Research for several commercials for Identity and Believe Media.

December 2012 - What I'm Up To

• Working for the first time with production company Radke on a Samsung pitch.

• Superb news that my short "The Search For Inspiration Gone" has been officially selected to play every day at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival 2013 in their 'Lab Competition'. And it's playing competitively at Premier Plans d'Angers against 8 other short films for best European directing debut. Both these French festivals are BAFTA recognised and Clermont-Ferrand is also Oscar recognised. Better had brush up on my franglais.

• Research for Identity for a compelling Autism based spot.

• Released a 'director-photographer' music promo, very much an indie production for an unsigned artist. See "Lands of Gold and Green" here: Lands of Gold and Green

• Researched with Knucklehead for Daniel Barber; BBC World Service campaign.

November - What I'm Up To

• Research for Radical Media

• Research on a Fiat/Lancia job for Atika.

• UK premiere of my directing debut "The Search For Inspiration Gone" at Leeds International Film Festival, and then immediately it played at Aesthetica Short Film Fest. I attended all the screenings and met a whole plethora of good people.

• More research for Radical Media with The Glue Society.

• "The Search For Inspiration Gone" played at Magma in Italy as part of a special Leeds IFF screening.

october 2012 - what i'm up to

• 'Telemotive', artist Dan Walwin's newst work that I DP'd the main piece for, is showing as part of V22 Young London 2012 all of November; http://www.v22collection.com/younglondon/

• 'The Search For Inspiration Gone' will be playing at both Leeds Internation Film Festival and ASFF Aesthetica (in York) at the beginning of November. I'll be at both saying hello's.

• Research for Radical Media; Vodafone CG visualisations.

• Research for Winter 2012 Pantene spot for Identity.

• Shot 2 virals for Louboutin shoes as cameraman.

• Writing and generating ideas for new short films whilst in gorgeous Corsica!

September 2012 - What I'm Up To

• I'm travelling with my debut film, "The Search For Inspiration Gone" to its world premiere at 39th Telluride Film Festival where it's playing in a very strong programme of 8 short films. What a start to my directing debut! Here's images of it playing to two 150 seat theatres and an image of your truly about to give a Q&A. With thanks to the British Council Short Film Travel Grant for quickly dishing me some cash to help fund my travel out to Colorado - much respect.

• I've been shooting as a run-and-gun cameraman for Toni & Guy at London Fashion Week. I covered 3 designer's shows for Fashion East.

• DP'd 4 fashion-editorial-interview shoots that included Tori Amos, Lisa Marie Presly and Jade Parfitt. 

July & August 2012. What I'm up to

• Well, I'm sitting in a hotel foyer in Frisco, Colorado and I've been so busy I can't think! - So lets skip to September...

May & June 2012. What I'm Doing...

• I raised over £3,300 for the charity Leuka, partly as being being sponsored by London digital facilites house VMI, cycling 1,200Km over the alps as part of RSA's FireFlies. A trip to cherish!

• Screened "The Search For Inspiration Gone" to around 100 invited guests at Wired in Soho. It's finally finished! Now for festival success...

• Shooting as lighting-cameraman for Harpers & Bazaar magazine. Subject's include Rose Bryne, Kim Kardashian and Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey. Relaxed interviews and documentary footage.

• Research for a Gerard de Thame pitch.

• Shooting 'How To' content for Toni & Guy hair saloons as cameraman.

• VW pitch, which we won, with Tony Petersen Films. Research and pre-vis photo shoot supplied. 

March & April 2012 - What I'm Doing

• Documentary coverage as camera-sound man, for the launch of a Carte Noir coffee in Marylebone.

• New client; Tangrystan in Norway. Researching with Pekka Hara for an Aconto spot.

• Referencing for director DL Hackman at Carnibird in Paris on a Citroen spot.

• Cinematic research for Czar in Holland. Rabobank for Mattias Schut. The job was awarded.

• Old favorites Smuggler got me back with Adam Berg researching and laying out two jobs; AT&T and Isis.

• Documentary shooting for the British Fashion Council and the V&A for the cultural Olympics; Jonathon Saunders etc.

• Behind the scenes editorial shooting of Fern Cotton's AW 12 collection.

• Research: Identity. Avon with Sophia Coretta: pitch awarded.

• Research - Gerard de Thame films; Olympic themed beauty products.

• New client: Passion Raw. Researching for a Wispa ad with director Willem Gerritsen

• Sonny: Sol pitch with Jeff Labbe

• Identity (NY); another successful Pantene pitch for Pierluca de Carlo. Follwed by a successful Clairol pitch.

• Finally mastered my short film, The Search For Inspiration Gone. Watch this space....

February 2012. What am I doing? With Who? And why?

• Cameraman for Toni & Guy at London Fashion Week. Highlights include Matthew Williamson show at London Opera House - very classy. All backstage, access all areas style.

• Visual research for Adam Berg's bid with Smuggler LA on an IBM triple.

• Believe Media NY got me working with Rory Kelleher on a spot for Disney's new 'Cars' ride at DisneyLand, then straight off the back of that Believe UK have me working with Rory again visualising a spot for Skolkovo.

• Jan Wentz and I have been collaborating again, putting our heads together, for a very non-advertising ad pitch for Budvar. Think Orson Welles meets Rodchenko.

• Fine grading my new short film on Resolve, whilst mastering the audio at Sony.

• Researching a quick project with Sonny, director Steve Rogers.

• Directed the recording of the score for my short film at Konk studios with my composer and a six piece ensemble.... almost there. Working on the typography now.

• Commissioning music for my experimental super8mm short.

December 2011

• Self directed street-photography trip to Istanbul.

• Working with @Radical, Berlin on a pitch.

• Another live-projection mapping project with Luke Losey required some pre-vis work. This time for a hotel in Gothernburg.

• GE India: Bidding with Gerard de Thame through Believe USA.

• Lube! Durex Italy, researching a mood package for Sebastien Chantrel.

• Remote grading of a Super8 short I shot earlier this year via Light Press in Seattle.

NOvember (Where has this year gone) - What and Who...

• Docu shooting, with immediate editing and uploading, of Cosmopolitan's Woman of the Year awards. Pretty glitzy...

• Helping Jan Wentz get the cinematic look required for his bid on several US BMW spots through Belladonna Productions.

• Another Pantene bid requiring my visual input.

• VISA's Olympic themed campaign; researching slow motion photography together with historical footage for Adam Berg through Smuggler.

• A small research job with Sonny; Audi and Thomas Jonsgarden.

• "Tele-" by Dan Walwin, cinematography by me, previews at Film Huis Den Haag next week. Very exciting.  Here's a still:

• SALT fims in Germany got me on board to help visualise a pitch for director Filip Tellander.

• Magali Reus' new film 'On' premieres next week in London. I shot as a camera-op off the dutch coast line, sometimes in the sea using underwater housings. 

October - Busy, But doing what?...

• Visualisation for a Nokia live architectural project for Luke Losey at Drive Productions.

• Written a treatment for a Sagres beer spot, for Yves Callewaert.

September 2011 - what am i doing?

• Cont' directing and shooting my super8 film in Andalucia, Spain.

• Lighting cameraman: Fashion editorial / online content inc studio fashion shoot for Mary Portas at House of Fraser.

• Cameraman: British Gas commercial shot literally in central London (Trafalgar Sq, China Town etc...).

• Home Corp with Andy Margetson: Tampax research.

• SFX Cameraman: Feedback loops for an HSI produced promo.

• BMW Corporate: A quick shoot for BMW UK internal use; cameraman.

August 2011 - What Am I doing?

• Director / DoP: Experimental super8 film in the deserts of Analucia, Spain.

• Camera Operator (2nd Cam) on a shoot off the Dutch coastline for artist Magali Reus. Shooting swimming sequences in the sea, 2Km from land, together with long-lens work from the surf line.

• Research for directors: Guard Brothers. Job: Amazon Kindle.

• Research for director: Rory Kelleher. Job: Verizone.

• Research for director: Gerard de Thame. Job: Walmart.

• DoP: 5 days shooting in a Renault Espace in the west of England.

July 2011 - What I'm Up TO

• Wrigley's 5 Gum, ideas and cinematic researching for Jason Smith at HSI New York.

• Documentary cameraman for Rob Makin's directing debut, a musicology of the Frank Chickens, at the Barbican, London.

• Gaffer for the drama pilot 'Afterglow', lighting black musicians in a downtown Soho jazz club. DP, Tom Swindle.

May 2011 - What I'm Up TO

• Pre-pro for 2x short films, as DoP.

• Research for advertising director Adam Berg; Gears of War and Infinity together with collating and sourcing imagery to act as a pre-vis for a feature film bid (I don't think I can disclose the project).

• Treatment writing for photographer Yves Callawaert.

• Creative research, and pitch layout design, for an Uggs 'For Men' campaign for Stylewar.

February/march/April 2011 - The one Thing I'm Doing!

• Finally got my short film into production; 'The Search for Inspiration Gone'. A huge task given the particular nature of the subject and shooting technique. Having written and co-produced it, I directed and photographed the semi-animated film in Oxfordshire (and Petra in Jordan) on 35mm black and white stock. The post saw the hand processing of 360 cans of film and the animation of 14,000 still images. It's almost ready for release.....

January 2011 - What I'm up to

• Camera Operator / DIT for DoP Stefan Lange, on an operatic drama shot at The Hospital Club Studios for theatre director, Luc Mollinger.

• Pre-Pro on my own short, working title 'God's Garden', possibly to shoot on a vintage film camera.

• Research, research, research; Laurent Chanez at Identity NY for Avon, Anthea Benton on pitches for Special K and Jillz at Believe,  Nivea for Martha Fiennes at Believe, continuing my work with Adam Berg on Sony Cybershot, lending a last minute helping hand to Radical Media for their Campari pitch, Smuggler NY got had me working alongside the Guard Brothers for their Crowns Lager pitch and Gerard de Thame's noir pitch for Kia.

• DoP on 2 simplistic re-workings of scenes from Carlito's Way and A View From A Bridge.

• DoP on a tiny promo for Anjunabeats.
